Ponderosa Pine is one of the most abundant species grown in the 12 western
states and is selectively harvested to remove only the mature trees. With a
minimal amount of reddish-brown heartwood and wide cream colored sapwood,
it has a straight, uniform grain which provides a clear, smooth surface.
Ponderosa Pine is often specified when appearance rather than strength is vital.
Kiln dried prior to shipment, Pine is relatively unaffected by changes in humidity
making it ideal for moulding, door and window trim, shutters, jambs, interior
paneling and drawers where tight-fitting joints are required and durability under
movement is critical. It also accepts finishes well including paint, stain and
varnish with out raising the grain.
